Breaking Benjamin deliver harsh vocals and intense melody in a catchy new track, ‘Save Yourself’

April 6, 2018

It’s really unusual when a band is so “generous” before the album release that they share almost half of the tracks from the promoted record. But Breaking Benjamin are breaking the pattern. Following the release of four songs from their upcoming album (‘Red Cold River,’ ‘Blood,’ ‘Feed the Wolf’ and ‘Psycho’), they have shared another piece, an emotional track ‘Save Yourself.’

Speaking about the forthcoming album, titled Ember, frontman Ben Burnley said:
“On Ember we just tried to make it more extreme — the softer side on this album is really soft, and the heavy side is really heavy. We decided to give everybody what they want to the furthest degree.”
And this heavier, intense side of Breaking Benjamin is really what many of us craved for. ‘Save Yourself’ is stylistically tending to industrial and alternative metal, thanks to heavy tones and harsh vocals, which aren’t very typical of the Pennsylvania rock band. But the interesting part is, the song doesn’t really feel heavy or aggressive: instead, the interchange of harsh parts and clean vocals fits Breaking Benjamin like a glove and sounds very naturally.

Ember is due for release on April 13 via Hollywood Records, and it has a lot to live up to. The band’s previous album, Dark Before Dawn (2015), debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and had three No. 1 radio singles (via Blabbermouth). But hey, the new album has huge potential to repeat this success of its predecessor. The first track from Ember, ‘Red Cold River’, released in January together with the music video, reached more than seven million views.

Breaking Benjamin are doing a spring North American tour with support from 10 Years, which kicks off April 25. Afterwards, the musicians are hitting the road for a co-headlining run with Five Finger Death Punch, so this summer promises to be on fire!
