Ex-Of Mice & Men singer has started a new spinal treatment and “will be overcoming and recovering from this”

April 7, 2017

Austin Carlile, ex-Of Mice & Men’s vocalist, has given fans a detailed update on his health, saying that he “will be overcoming and recovering from this before seeing some of you THIS Summer!”

His Instagram post reveals that he began a new spinal treatment in Costa Rica, where he lives now. “This procedure is 1x a week for 2-3 months,” he says. “Each week a series of 12-24 shot injections into my spinal chord, muscle, & ligaments from my legs, up to hips, then, low and middle back, to repair all my ligaments in the area, plus weekly IV’S to go with it!”

We wish we could write Carlile, who suffers from Marfan Syndrome, is feeling better day by day, but the truth is, as his update reveals, the ligaments in his body are deteriorating faster than doctors thought, causing him enourmous pain:

“My team recently discovered that the ligaments in my body are deteriorating faster than expected and this has been a root of some of my problems and a lot of my PAIN. So I’m taking this next #MarfanSyndromeTreatment head on! Will be a rough few weeks ahead but I have faith! God give me strength and lets go! “

Carlile announced leaving Of Mice & Men at the end of 2016. The band – Aaron Pauley, Alan Ashby, Phil Manansala and Valentino Arteaga – are now continuing making music as a four-piece. And as for Carlile, he won’t stop writing new music comes what may:

“I will not stop playing music, I am still able to sing and I’m hungry for what is next to come even though I have no idea what that may be.”
