Dommin’s world is “falling into ashes” in the new, fantasy-type music video of the same name

May 24, 2016

Dommin have just unveiled the official music video for their lyrical track ‘Falling Into Ashes’, which they premiered via German music magazine Orkus.

Directed by the band’s very own keyboard player, Konstantine, ‘Falling Into Ashes’ is a one-shot clip, showing the frontman, Kristofer Dommin, walking down the long path as the colours around him are changing from lively, sky-blue palette to gloomy, fiery inferno color gamut. You can watch the video below.

Kristofer told Alterock that the clip was actually shot a while ago but the quartet was waiting for the perfect moment to put it out. “We actually shot this video over two years ago before the album was released and held on to the footage until recently,” he explained. “We knew we’d eventually want to put this song and video out, but at the time we didn’t know when. So this brand new video is in some ways a bit old.”

Discussing the concept of the video, the singer told Orkus: “Konstantine did a great job with this video going for an other worldly almost fantasy type feel. We added a narrative to the original meaning of the song with this video. Instead of just feeling like the world is crumbling around me, we made myself the source of the problem. Anything I come near loses its life and color. I eventually lead to my own destruction.”

Though the fantasy world around the singer in the video is getting dark and hopeless, Kristofer himself has learned over the years to stick to a balanced and positive perspective and see ‘the big picture’: “I think I’ve gotten a bit more macro-perspective on my life. I lost some things throughout the last couple of years and basically just gained a bigger appreciation for life itself and for the struggle,” he told in an interview with Alterock. ‘Falling Into Ashes’ is the track featured on Dommin’s second album Rise. In January, the band dropped an unusual selfie music video for another album track, ‘The Girls’, following the ‘Rise’ music video, which introduced the new record. Dommin have also recently launched their cover of Type O Negative’s ‘Love You To Death’ in memory of Peter Steele, which you can watch here.

Dommin will play at “One Night in Texas” on June 16 at The Sidewinder in Austin, TX. Stay tuned for more dates and news from Dommin. Share your thoughts in the comments, and join Alterock Facebook and Twitter to stay tuned for rock and metal news.
