Is it more than just a rumor?
Green Day fans were delighted when a rumor spead about new music coming from the trio very soon. On the Kerrang! Radio show called ‘Breakfast with Sophie K.’ it was announced that a new song from the band is coming next week.
The new track was supposedly coming July 19 but today it has been announced that the report wasn’t accurate. Kerrang! updated their statement from the day before, clarifying that new music from the band isn’t planned for the near future.
Green Day’s representatives made it quite clear too:
“Definitely no Green Day single any time soon,” the band stated.
Since last December Green Day have been hinting at new music coming up. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had stressed the band wouldn’t be idle for long after the release of 2016’s Revolution Radio.
Then, in a live Instagram chat, Green Day fans were shocked to see Armstrong pop up himself in the course of the conversation. He dropped a short but promising note: “I’m writing new songs for gd now.” You can check out the fragment of the Instagram chat below:
To the other recent events in Green Day’s life, the band’s side-project the Longshot, featuring Armstrong, has just wrapped up a tour, and judging by the setlist, they went a bit nostalgic and covered several Green Day hits, reports Alternative Press .
This very cozy show saw the band play Love Is For Losers album, as well as Green Day 2012’s Uno! Dos! And Tre!. Armstrong & Co. decided to play ‘Stay The Night’, ‘Fell For You’ and ‘Missing You’. The show took place in Oakland on June 7 and 8.
