The band has also revealed the song’s personal lyrics on Instagram

After going cryptic and promising us “little somethin’ somethin’”, All Time Low guitarist Jack Barakat finally revealed his new side project, WhoHurtYou, with an accompanying video, focusing on mental health.

WhoHurtYou have now shared their first track, ‘Wish We Never Met’. It now comes with its own music video, which you can check below.

WhoHurtYou project is a duo, featuring, besides Barakat on the guitar, Kevin Fisher on vocals. The musicians are trying themselves in a bit “poppier” genre. But writing music for the project wasn’t a piece of cake for Barakat. In an recent interview with Billboard, he said:

“This wasn’t something I expected to do,” Barakat says. “It definitely took a little bit of convincing on Kevin’s part. He’s been writing songs for years and has had some success. I’ve been in a band but hadn’t written music before. To get me into the studio, he said, ‘Dude, you have a story to tell. We both have a story to tell. Let’s get in the studio and see what happens.’”

The band is currently in works on their first EP, Stages, scheduled for release later this year via Fueled By Ramen. Lyrically, the record will be talking about the stages of a breakup and will include an unreleased track ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends’.

Describing the mission of this new side project, the duo wrote:

“We are WhoHurtYou. A dark pop project started between @jackbarakat and @iamsweettalker with the purpose of healing from heartbreak and turning a negative experience into something positive.”
