Interpol’s new song is about “the guy that f–cks up friendships and does crazy shit”

July 30, 2018

Less than a month ago, on July 11, NYC rockers Interpol shared ‘The Rover’, the first single from their upcoming sixth album, Marauder. And here comes the second one! The band has just presented a new song with a mysterious title ‘Number 10’. Give it a listen below.

The title, in fact, couldn’t be more obvious: it’s simply the 10th track on the new album. The musicians are pretty straightforward about what the song’s lyrics are about:

“Marauder is a facet of myself,” Interpol vocalist and guitarist Paul Banks explains. “The guy that f–cks up friendships and does crazy shit. He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed.”

‘Number 10’ has an ethereal feel to it from the beginning, later on growing into an anthemic track. The song was produced by Dave Fridmann.

Marauder is out August 24. You can pre-order the album here. Interpol are heading on a North American tour later this summer, so be sure to check out the dates and locations below.
