You Me At Six wanted to “adapt it to a ‘night out’ scenario” of DiCaprio’s character making it back home in his car

August 1, 2018

The new music video from You Me At Six, titled ‘3AM’, was inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio’s character from the film The Wolf Of Wall Street. The clip consists of three acts, moving from the expectations to the reality of a night out, just like that that scene with DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort. Remember how he was barely made it home while on drugs and that epic scene with him “graciously” rolling down the staircase to his Lamborghini.

“I recalled this amazing scene in The Wolf Of Wall Street where it shows Leo making it back home in his Lamborghini whilst totally off his head on drugs; however, it later reveals what really happened…and the journey didn’t go as well as he remembered,” director Dan Broadley revelals. “I loved that idea and wanted to adapt it to a ‘night out’ scenario where Josh plays this bouncy alter-ego of himself.”

Singer Josh Franceschi believes that scene demanded a lot of “acting” and was an exciting challenge for him. The video also demanded the band to learn err… a bit of silly boy-band choreography. What was that episode inspired by is hard to guess.

‘3AM’ is featured on the band’s sixth studio album VI, which will drop October 5. You can pre-order your copy of the album here.
