The lyric video, showing neo-fascist politicians, suits the punk song just right

Anti-Flag are rocking our day today with their new anti-fascist punk track ‘Christian Nationalist’. The song comes with an unambiguous lyric video, featuring the pictures of politicians. Give it a look below!

The new single will probably be part of the next record, which the band is still working on. Anti-Flag’s previous record, American Fall, came out in 2017, followed by the live record Live Vol. 2. So what is Anti-Flag’s 2019 sound and message?

Well, since punk is there to bring to light current political and societal problems, the Pittsburgh musicians are staying true to themselves. ‘Christian Nationalist’ is openly against neo-fascists, nationalistic politicians and all sorts of supremacists.

To make their point even more straightforward, Anti-Flag launched the lyric video with interchanging images of politicians. As Alternative Press points out, the band put together the images of politicians getting money from the NRA and the perpetrators of mass shootings. The band even attached a list of the politicians dealing with NRA donations after the video, so there’s no beating around the bush.

Here is what Anti-Flag’s vocalist Justin Sane says about the song himself:

“History is full of wealthy and powerful people using religion and cultism to justify policies of oppression and inequality. Invariably, these policies target the most vulnerable in society so that elites can maintain their dominance. Today we see this same strategy employed by right wing politicians all over the world. Just as the anti-fascists of the 1930’s and 1940’s rejected the fascist ideologies of their era, we reject the neo-fascists of this era. Theocracy is dangerous and inherently anti-democratic because it restricts individual choice and provides an avenue by which politicians can claim a moral superiority over “the other”. It gives political cover and justification for policies and actions which might otherwise be deemed morally objectionable, inhuman, or adverse to the best interest of the country.”
