‘Kill for Candy’ talks about Davey Havok’s unhealthy desire for the sweet

March 2, 2017

Dreamcar is a brand new band, comprised of AFI’s Davey Havok (vocals) and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young. The quite spontaneously formed supergroup has released their first single today, ‘Kill for Candy’, which you can hear below.

Musically, ‘Kill for Candy’ is heavily influenced by the sound of the 80s and lyrically it shows an honest and unexpected side of AFI’s frontman:
»There’s an honesty in all of my lyrics. This one speaks to a perhaps dangerous and unhealthy desire for the sweet.»
Talking about their upcoming debut album, Tony Kanal says: «I can’t stop listening to it, so that’s always a good sign for me.»

Havok and No Doubt musicians easily got along with each other, and not without a reason. AFI’s side project Blaqk Audio had earlier served as a support act on the No Doubt tour, and the guys became friends.
