Linkin Park have debuted the new single, ‘Heavy’, and announced album release details

Linkin Park stopped teasing their fans with numerous bits of the new single, ‘Heavy’ (feat. Kiiara), and finally unveiled the track. To celebrate the song premiere, the band organized a live chat on Facebook, where they publicly announced that the title of the new record is One More Light and it’s due for release May 19.
Answering the question about the style of the album in the Facebook live chat, Mike Shinoda said that the new record sounds pretty much like ‘Heavy’, so listen to the single below and you’ll know more or less if One More Light is the album to your taste.

Singer Chester Bennington in the chat revealed that the inspiration for One More Light is… well, life. Particularly, what they all went through in the last few years:

And we, like, started to write all that stuff down, like «What’s the inspiration behind the music?» And we wrote all the stuff that each one of us went through down, on a piece of paper, in the last couple of years. It was like, «Holy crap! That’s been our lives». And that’s when we realized, like, life is the inspiration for this.»[/quote]
Despite so many albums in Linkin Park’s discography, everyone in the band admits that the writing process for this record felt new and even uncomfortable at times.
«Every part of the process felt, like, exciting and almost kind of uncomfortable», said Bennington. «And, like, we definitely got out of our comfort zone». The guys also said it’s been an insightful process, as a result of which they’ve become closer as a band.
