Following the lyric video for ‘Mercy’, Muse have released official music video for the song, directed by Sing J Lee. ‘Mercy’ clip could be an ideal trailer to the film ‘Island’, as the plot of the music video almost totally repeats that of the futuristic thriller featuring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson: a model-looking girl suddenly discovers she is a product of cloning, when she find many more girls looking just like her, standing in the glass frames. She escapes from the cloning engineers and rebels against the system.

When asked about the song lyrics, Matt says: “The opening line of ‘Mercy’ — Help me I’ve fallen on the inside — is a reference to the protagonist knowing and recognizing that they have lost something, they have lost themselves. This is where they realize they’re being overcome by the dark forces that were introduced in ‘Psycho.’» An interesting fact about the lyrics of ‘Mercy’ is that it is the first song on the album that does not contain the word Drones’.

‘Mercy’ is the track from the band’s new album, Drones, which came out just two days ago, June 9 via Warner Bros. Records. The song was live premiered at iHeartRadio’s gig in New York in May 2015. Muse frontman Matt Bellamy says he is sure Drones is the band’s best album to this day.
