With an ongoing lockdown for almost two months now, it often feels like we are all stuck in a waiting lounge, in a homestay bubble. It’s as if someone has pressed a «pause» button on the planet’s life, and we can’t wait for it to resume. But there are employees whose physical presence at work is a must. In the new video, ‘The Lighthouse’ , The Used are thanking these frontline bravehearts for risking their lives, working with clients face-to-face every day.
‘The Lighthouse’ is the song you’ll find on The Used’ latest album Heartwork. The music video features loads of fans from all over the world who had sent in their videos directly from workplaces. From nurses to shop assistants to delivery drivers. It also features Mark Hoppus (blink-182) and the members of The Used at home with their families.
Interestingly, the band changed the original lyrics for the track to make it way more life-asserting. Check out The Used’ post:
The video became possible thanks to tonnes of fan videos and pictures The Used requested fans to send last month. Vocalist Bert McCracken explains the message of the track:
“Doubt can be an avalanche. It can cascade out and infect everything it touches. Inspiration is also infectious. The original chorus lyric was ‘I can’t be your lighthouse,’ until I was reminded by my 6-year-old daughter that I can be and I am. It helps to remember that we all have the capability to inspire someone in our own way.”
The Used concluded the video with a sweet note to all the frontline workers, saying: “Thank you to everyone on the front lines. Stay safe!!! Love, The Used.”
