‘Walk On Water’ is a colorful kaleidoscope made from video footage sent by over 10,000 people

November 8, 2017

Thirty Seconds To Mars had asked their fans to record a moment showing what America means to them, and the response to this request was overwhelming. Over 10,000 people submitted their video footage, showing the U.S. today from various aspects. Watch the most patriotic yet realistic music video for ‘Walk On Water’ below.

Combined with the band’s own material shot by 92 professional crews, the creative effort resulted in “a portrait of this country that is absolutely beautiful, challenging and unforgettable.” The video catches 24 hours in the life of the United States on July 4. Jared Leto explained earlier that the song is about freedom in every respect and fighting for what you believe in.

The clip is a montage of diverse video moments and curious facts about the U.S. population popping up on the screen. As much as it is praising America and living in America, the messages on the screen draw our attention to acute yet often discarded problems, be it the shocking amount of prisoners in the U.S. or the fact that, for example, 61% of Americans don’t know the lyrics of the national anthem.

‘Walk On Water’ is featured on the upcoming fifth studio album of Thirty Seconds To Mars. The music video finishes with Leto’s announcement that many more fragments of this received and recorded footage will be part of the documentary film, A Day In The Life of America, directed by Leto himself. The film will accompany the release of the new album. We can’t wait to see Leto’s work as a film director!

The band’s previous album, LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS, was released four years ago, in 2013, so many of you haven’t had a chance to catch the band live over the past couple of years. Check out their list of early 2018′ tour dates below.
