Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce has a strong reason to miss the band’s European tour this month – he is awaiting the arrival of his baby daughter. Bruce posted a statement via Facebook explaning that he needs to be with his pregnant girlfriend right now. The 10 dates that Bruce will be sitting out include festival dates through August 27.

“As you may be aware, I won’t be joining the lads on this short European run,” writes the guitarist. “The reason I can’t be on this run is due to the fact that I am expecting the arrival of my baby girl any time now and as you all know, myself, the lads and this band has always lived by ‘family first.’ This is an incredibly exciting time in my life and I cannot wait to introduce you all to my little angel.”

Bruce adds that it will feel strange to stay at home while the rest of the band is on the road. “This is the first time I’ve not joined the guys and it’s really saddening and a very strange feeling – but I know they are going to be just fine and they are going to kill it for you guys.” Read his statement in full below.

It’s not known yet whether Asking Alexandria are planning to replace Bruce while he is back home with his girlfriend. Bruce was previously married to Samantha Cassaro but the pair announced their divorce on November 9, 2015.

The band’s guitarist has also unveiled that there’s a UK and European tour coming up early next year. “I have the privilege of letting you guys know this early – in September we will be announcing an incredible UK and European tour for the beginning of the year, so don’t worry I am coming for you”, Bruce reassured his fans.

Once the upcoming European route is done, Asking Alexandria will embark on an extensive North American 10th anniversary tour of Sumerian Records, alongside Born Of Osiris, I See Stars, After The Burial, Upon A Burning Body and Bad Omens. The tour kicks of October 25 in Seattle.
