“We’ve been told what to do by a lot of different people, but we’ve decided that that ends now…”

American nu-metal outfit dangerkids, formed in Ohio in 2012, will certainly leave a bunch of people without Christmas presents this year, as they’ve just announced their ‘blacklist’. Today the guys have officially announced their long-awaited sophomore album, titled blacklist_ (intentionally spelled this way).

The rockers have been low key for a while, but it feels good to admit they’ve invested this time into recording powerful new material. Along with the album announcement, the band has released an angry title track (give it a listen below).

A month ago, the band shared a music video for ‘Things Could Be Different’, another track featured on the upcoming in-your-face album, blacklist_. Having been told many times what to do, dangerkids believe the album marks a new beginning for them:

“blacklist_ is significant to us for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it marks a new beginning for dangerkids. It’s dark and it’s pissed off, but most importantly, it’s us deciding to not follow so many of the rules that held us down the first time around”, says singer Tyler Smyth. “We’re a band that’s been pulled around a lot of different ways and been told what to do by a lot of different people, but we’ve decided that that ends now. If anything, blacklist_ is us finally becoming ourselves.”

The new record will be released January 27 via the band’s new label Paid Vacation Records, where the band seem happier than ever. Starting today, those who pre-order the album at iTunes will get instant downloads of the new songs ‘Things Could Be Different’ and ‘blacklist_’.
