Franz Ferdinand will hit the road with a new look following the departure of Nick McCarthy
May 22, 2017
Indie-rock veterans Franz Ferdinand will start a North American tour tomorrow, May 21, with a renewed line-up, including two new members, Dino Bardot and Julian Corrie. Last year the band parted ways with one of their founders – rhythm-guitarist, keyboardist and back vocalist Nick McCarthy, so the group obviously needed to invite a new musician in.
As McCarthy was part of the band for 14 years, finding someone to take on his role and blend in with the band for years to come wasn’t an easy task. But now the Glasgow trio seem to be confident about their choices. Yesterday, they introduced the new members on social media – check out their official tweet below.
So, Franz Ferdinand is now a five-piece which consists of their original singer Alex Kapranos, bassist Bob Hardy and drummer Paul Thomson plus two new members, Dino Bardot and Julian Corrie on keyboards, synth and guitar. What do we know about the line-up additions? Bardot used to play in the indie-rock trio 1990s, while Corrie focuses on electronic music and is known as Miaoux Miaoux.

This summer will be eventful for Franz Ferdinand, with a range of summer festivals and a set at the Belladrum Tartan Heart, a festival held in their native Scotland.
We’ll remind you that McCarthy left the band in July 2016, with the official explanation reading that he wanted to concentrate on his family and other musical interests. But it doesn’t mean that he can’t rejoin the band in the future: Franz Ferdinand underlined following his departure that they don’t exclude his comeback later on.
