The Ghost Inside guitarist Zach Johnson lost multiple toes on his left foot following the tragic bus accident

The Ghost Inside’s guitarist Zach Johnson has posted a tweet showing he’s lost multiple toes on his left foot as a result of the bus accident the band was involved into outside El Paso, Texas on Nov 19. Johnson has shared a graphic picture of his foot before and after surgery (see below) and wrote: “My 5th toe was barely on my foot, didn’t survive. 4th got infected. 3rd-5th toes were destroyed. Bones/vessels gone”. The guitarist has been discharged from the hospital this month.
The incident took its toll not only of the band’s guitarist Zach Johnson. For The Ghost Inside’s drummer Andrew Tkaczyk the bus accident resulted in him losing a leg. The whole lineup of the band made it out alive and are now in stable condition, but two drivers didn’t survive the accident.
The band’s tour bus collided with a tractor trailer on the highway to Mesa, Arizona in the U.S., eight miles from border patrol checkpoint outside of El Paso. Both drivers died, but the remaining eleven people on the tour bus survived. Jonathan Vigil, Zach Johnson, Andrew Tkaczyk and two others band members were taken to hospital in critical condition. On Jan 13, 2016, The Ghost Inside’s vocalist Jonathan Vigil stated his injuries on Instagram and how happy he was “to be alive”. Drummer Andrew Tkaczyk was initially in a ten-day coma and on Jan 14 his Instagram post revealed he’s lost one of his legs.
