The upcoming action film will also feature actors of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones

A two-decade journey to the movie screens has finally come to fruition, thanks to director Travis Knight. Originally famous as action figures, launched in 1982, the beloved hero He-Man and his arch-nemesis Skeletor will make it onto the big screen in the long-awaited Masters of the Universe action movie. And Skeletor will be played by the one and only Jared Leto.

30 Seconds to Mars frontman was expected to play the part of Skeletor back in September but his casting has been confirmed only this week. The upcoming action film, directed for Amazon MGM and Mattel Films, has also taken on three other big actors: House of the Dragon’s Sam C. Wilson, Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson and In the Grey actor Kojo Attah, Deadline reports.

Wilson is set to play Trap Jaw, one of Skeletor’s main henchmen, Bjornsson will appear as Goat Man, and Attah will transform into a tech-wizard Tri-Klops. The leading role – heroic figure He-Man – went to Nicholas Galtzine.

The movie story is based on Chris Butler’s script, while the details of the plot aren’t yet unveiled. Until today, there had only been an animated series about the Masters of the Universe and several TV adaptations. The popular heroes are finally making it to big screen, scheduled for release in June 2026.

Last year, the movie project, led by directors John Stevenson, Jon M. Chu and McG., was axed by Netflix due to budget issues. Hopefully, this time Jared Leto-starring picture will overcome all the obstacles and delight us with a star-studded cast in all movie theatres.
