Initially Motorhead’s frontman Lemmy Kilmister was thought to have died from terminal brain and neck cancer, but yesterday’s TMZ reports revealed that the cause stated in the official death certificate turned out to be prostate cancer coupled with cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure (via Loudwire). Over the last years of his life, Motorhead’s leader suffered multiple health issues such as diabetes and hematoma. This past fall Lemmy also caught a lung infection, resulting in cancelations of several tour dates. Surprisingly, the singer was told about his terminal diagnosis only two days before he passed away.
A memorial service took place in Los Angeles, with Sunset Strip closed down in order to fit all the visitors who came to commemorate Lemmy at his favorite Rainbow Bar & Grill. Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee told the media that the band would not continue after the death of their frontman.
