The Used announce new album, share puzzling new video for ‘Over And Over Again’

The band’s fall US tour will kick off exactly on the day of the album release

September 7, 2017

The Used have just announced their seventh studio album, The Canyon, the first full-length in three years. Surprisingly, the upcoming record consists of not 10 or 12 but 17 tracks. The album was produced by Ross Robinson and recorded “as if they were on stage, without a backing track”, writes NME.

The Used have also directed a psychedelic video for the new track ‘Over And Over Again’, which you can see below and which is guaranteed to make you feel puzzled. One thing that certainly cannot be said about The Used is that these guys ever lack imagination. In ‘Over And Over Again’ you’ll see the many “I” of Bert McCracken, while the colours, surroundings and entire mood of the clip are changing beyond recognition.

Opening with McCracken in white clothes sitting on a bed with snowwhite bed linen in some hospital, the video soon sees him dancing something jazz with a… err… headless dummy, to later turn it all into a let’s-smash-this-room party with horns, cakes and what not. If we hadn’t known The Used’ previous video works and Bert McCracken’s fantasy, we would consider the clip a bold attack on human senses and mental balance. Which it sort of is.

Besides, The Used are currently gearing for a few dates in the US this October with support from Glassjaw. The fall run starts in San Francisco on October 27, exactly on the day of the album release. The Used’ previous full-length was 2014′ Imaginary Enemy, followed by the live album, Live & Acoustic At The Palace two years later.

The Canyon will hit the stores October 27, so you’ll need a little patience. In the meanwhile, enjoy ‘Over And Over Again’ and the bizarre music video for this track.
