‘Rapture’ shows a shift in genre for Underoath, compared to its predecessor ‘On My Teeth’

March 20, 2018

Florida’s hardcore/metalcore band Underoath has released an emotional, somewhat psychedelic music video ‘Rapture’, which certainly isn’t an easy watch. Last month the band released another music video, ‘On My Teeth’, and the similarity of the visuals means that most probably both clips were recorded on one day, with a little change in the set and background.

However, musically, ‘Rapture’ and ‘On My Teeth’ showcase quite a difference. While ‘On My Teeth’ is a heavy and dark Underoath track, the new offering, ‘Rapture’, is a significant shift in the direction of alternative metal, reminding the latest songs by Three Days Grace. Check out the new track below:

‘Rapture’ is taken from the band’s upcoming album, Erase Me – the band’s eighth studio effort and their first album in eight years following Ø (Disambiguation). It’s also the band’s first record with their founding drummer/clean vocalist Aaron Gillespie since the release of the album Lost in the Sound of Separation back in 2008.

In terms of the production team, Erase Me promises to be something not to miss out on. The album was recorded with Matt Squire (Panic! at the Disco, 3OH!3) and mixed by Ken Andrews (Jimmy Eat World). The record is due for release via Fearless Records on April 6 and will be followed by the band’s Nø Fix tour.
