“Yes, friends! The long wait is now over,” confirmed The Man-Eating Tree on their social media
There is a reason to celebrate in Nordic metal world. Oulu-based Finnish gothic metal band The Man-Eating Tree is back after almost a decade!
Until recently, the group had been on a lengthy hiatus. It was last on the radar back in mid-2010s after the release of their third album, In the Absence of Light. The Finns have also announced they will be releasing a new album next year, and we can expect new music from them as early as this December.

However, when you look at the band’s new photos, it seems like a whole new band you’d never even heard of. The thing is, the only steady member of The Man-Eating Tree who’s still there is guitarist Janne Markus. The rest of the band’s lineup is entirely renewed. None of the musicians who played on the latest record, apart from Markus, continued their path with the group. Meet the new members: Manne Ikonen, Sakke Paavola, Aksu Hanttu and Mika “June” Junttila.
Just like the previous lineup, this one is pretty star-studded too. Ikonen is a well-known musician from Ghost Brigade, Hanttu previously played music in S-Tool and Entwine, while Junttila is a member of Mors Subita. Check out the band’s official comeback statement, posted on Facebook, below:
The band’s plans include releasing a new album next year, titled Night Verses, with the first album single ‘Seer’ to be unveiled already in December. Obviously, to be followed by a bunch of shows, so keep an eye on The Man-Eating Tree tour news.
