Have you always been wondering what your pet does at night while you are asleep? Mastodon’s new psychedelic music video ‘Asleep in the Deep’ suggests some ideas on that

the result of collaboration with Skinner, the author of Mastodon’s album art for Once More ‘Round the Sun, as well as director Video Rahim and special FX master Shane Morton. The new video could be called the modern version of Alice In Wonderland, except this time the leading role belongs to the cat.
‘Asleep in the Deep’ is the story of a house cat taking a stroll while his owner is asleep. The cat then finds itself in a sort of parallel world, where he meets weird creatures, such as a giant frog, a three-headed rat and many more. The cat does its best to get out alive of these mindblowing adventures.
“This concept was birthed out of my curiosity for what a cat really does at night while we are asleep,” explains Skinner. “Where do they go? Cats have a very mysterious myth to them and I thought it would be cool to explore that, as little nocturnal heroes. I decided to put a sort of Joseph Campbell hero myth spin on it and add some Jodorowsky psychedelia as well. I’m more than excited about the way it came out! I love it.”
Mastodon are touring Europe throughout this summer and then heading to South America in September. Watch the new video below, leave us your comments, and stay tuned with Alterock Facebook and Twitter to never miss out on the news about your favorite alternative music!
