‘I was starting to just enjoy not playing music as much at that point’, Adam Gontier of SAINT ASONIA talks parting ways with THREE DAYS GRACE and their relationships after the split

October 5, 2015

Recently formed band Saint Asonia with Adam Gontier (ex-Three Days Grace) on the vocals and Staind‘s Mike Mushok as a guitarist remained quite distanced from media until recently. Last week they gave an exclusive interview to Loudwire (watch the interview below) where Gontier answered sincerely why he left Three Days Grace two years ago. Three Days Grace were at that time a platinum band by 2013, with numerous hits and playing biggest venues and festivals all over the world. So Adam’s announcement of his exiting the band shocked most TDG fans and caused various rumours about what “creative differences” really implied.

In Loudwire interview Gontier admits he “was starting to just enjoy not playing music as much at that point and that’s when I realized I needed to take a good look at myself and change what I was doing.” He also says that Saint Asonia’s single ‘Better Place’ pretty much reflects all his thoughts on the state of things that led to his departure from TDG.

When asked about the communication between him and TDG now, Adam Gontier points out: “We took some time not talking to each other, ” he goes on to say, “but we’re talking now… I’m proud of those guys”. These days, the singer says, “there’s no resentment whatsoever. I mean Barry, Brad and myself talk quite often.”

Saint Asonia was formed just a few months ago but has already succeeded in producing a hit ‘Better Place’, featued on their self-titled debut record.
