Austin Carlile “has the purest of gold in his heart”, wrote Tyler Carter in the letter to his friend and mentor
May 30, 2016
The life of a rock band is a non-stop kaleidoscope of extensive touring, songwriting, jamming, studio recording and what not. In this marathon you rarely stop to look back for a second and thank all those who helped you on your way to the top and always believed in you. Today Tyler Carter (Issues) felt he’s “gotta throw some love out to someone incredible”, and took a few minutes to write an open letter to his mentor and dear friend, Of Mice & Men’s frontman Austin Carlile.

And Carter’s message is not just a two-line Twitter-type post: the singer wrote a profound and eloquent letter, which starts by saying that Austin Carlile “has the purest of gold in his heart. Tyler Carter’s open letter to Austin Carlile:
I gotta throw some love out to someone incredible today… I gotta say my dude @austincarlile has the purest of gold in his heart. I’ve known him since I started my career and he was one of the first people that opened his arms to me as an artist and label mate. He’s always been a mentor and a best bud to me and whoever I was working with. He’s given me support and advice and love and compassion. Pushing me to do the right thing and helping me strive to be successful and better musician. Been a scary year for a lot of us who are close to Austin, but I’m so happy to see this dude on his feet and prospering. I’m so proud of your strength dude, so proud of your talent and so proud of your smile. I’m happy to know you and have you in my life.
We have a ton of friends in this industry. We are close to a lot of bands, and done a ton of tours where we felt at home every day because of the family essence we always try to create. But one of the most consistent vibes we’ve ever felt was from Of Mice & Men. We have a friendly relationship with each member, and every time our bands are together, every single person is having a good time, sharing laughs and good memories. Anyone who tours will understand that those kinds of relationships are not always easy to come by but they are the most cherished things about doing this as a career. When people you tour with genuinely care about you and your well being and what you are bringing to this world, that’s real friendship.
Just to rewind, it’s a blessing to see Austin and the gang this week and to be able to recap our years of being family. We’ve toured with those boys more than any other band, and it’s not only a joy to see them, but a feeling of positive reinforcement. So happy to see everyone well, and AC, I love you dude, thanks for your guidance. Glad my big brother is alive and well. Let’s keep climbing!!
Sorry was having a moment this morning, and disregard any spelling or grammar errors, that’s not the point. Lol!
