One of 2020s’ Eurovision favourites, Daði Freyr, has shared a laid-back solo single
And just like that, with his new chillout track ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk’, Daði Freyr is ready for the approaching summer. The relaxing groovy song by the Eurovision “double star” has a signature Daði Freyr’s sound: soft synths, an engaging rhymth and deep low vocals. ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk’ marks the first single off of his upcoming album and is now available on all digital platforms.
The track was written during a studio session in Berlin with music producer Daniel Schaub. Lyrically, it is the quintessence of the Nordic mentality, where words are always unnecessary and silence speaks volumes: “I have nothing to say (nothing to say) / And that’s ok (that’s fine with me) / And we don’t have to fill the silence anyway,” sings Daði.

“The song is about being so comfortable with somebody that you don’t need to fill the silence to have a good time. Sometimes it’s enough just to exist in the same space as somebody you love,” the singer says.
Daði & Gagnamagnið represented his homeland Iceland at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with the song ’10 Years’, which brought the country the 4th place in the Grand Final. A year earlier, the band had submitted their track ‘Think About Things’ to Eurovision 2020 but the contest was cancelled that year due to the COVID pandemic.
