The new Don Broco song raises the topic of “celebrity in the age of the internet”
January 25, 2019
Don Broco have just shared their new track ‘Half Man Half God’ and we are… lost for words. The song is aggressive in vocals, unpredictable in rhythm swings and simply takes the listener aback from the very start. If you’re ready to be blown away, give it a listen below!
The band debuted the song on the Annie Mac show on BBC Radio 1 last night. ‘Half Man Half God’ marks the group’s first new material since 2018’s Technology, therefore, media are speculating Don Broco’s new album is on the way. The track talks how differently fans see their idols these days – wanting their constant communication (and demanding selfies!).
“This is a song about celebrity in the age of the internet,” frontman Rob Damiani told Kerrang!. “People don’t just want to admire their idols from afar, they want to know everything about them. Every waking moment, every thought and feeling, every hope and fear.
These days we want our celebrities human. We don’t want mystery, we don’t want airbrushing, we want real, we want full access, we want communication, and most importantly we want selfies.”
Don Broco are touring in Europe at the moment. In February they’ll be hitting the road for a UK run with Neck Deep and Issues. You can check out all the group’s tour dates and locations below.
