The special NFL Honors ceremony will take place this Saturday, Feb 6
The U.S. audience is all in wait, as Super Bowl Sunday is just a few days away. Obviously, this whole week will be full of music events, with Green Day headlining the NFL Honors ceremony this Saturday.
The special NFL ceremony will take place on February 6. The trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt are going to rock the NFL Honors stage, though not for a live crowd. As the coronavirus pandemic isn’t over yet, the entire event will be virtual this year, with music performances pre-recorded.
“With the unprecedented nature of this year, we are excited to bring the 10th annual NFL Honors show to life in a unique format,” comments Mark Quenzel of the NFL. “We look forward to producing an unforgettable show that will celebrate the game and its brightest stars in an entertaining fashion.”

It’s the first big occasion that we hear from Green Day again, after some low-key time, caused by COVID-19-related restrictions. The band had their world tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer, titled Hella Mega Tour, rescheduled last year. However, now it isn’t clear whether all 2021 concerts and festivals will be taking place. According to Alternative Press, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently said he was still gearing up for the Hella Mega Tour this summer.
Green Day have posted today that they’re feeling “fired up to finally be back on stage!” Who is even more excited at the moment is The Weeknd, this year’s Super Bowl halftime show performer. The artist recenly revealed he had spent $7 million to make his 12-13-minute long set happen.
