You got “an invitation into Green Day’s brain”…
Green Day couldn’t have chosen a better time to release their black-and-white, zombie apocalypse-themed music video than a few days prior to Halloween. And the music video for ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’ isn’t the only treat for the fans of Billie Joe Armstrong & co.
After Green Day recently presented two new songs during their set at When We Were Young festival, the band also announced the release of their 14th album, titled Saviors. The record is scheduled for release on January 19, 2024 via Reprise/Warner.

Saviors was recorded with the group’s longtime producer Rob Cavallo, marking their first collaboration in over 10 years. The choice of the new single to present the album to fans was a piece of cake for the band. “As soon we cut it, we said, `OK, that’s going first,” said Armstrong, introducing the single, “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people — in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.”
The zombie-themed video, directed by Brendan Walter and Ryan Baxley, shows Green Day members in quite a bizarre way: crazy uncombed hair, heavy black-and-white makeup and an insane expression on their faces.
The album announcement comes with the following message from Green Day musicians:
“Saviors is an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years.
It’s raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep in the happiness kind of record.
Honesty and vulnerability.
What is Saviors about, you ask?
Power pop, punk, rock, indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility,,..
What would Andy Warhol do?
What would John Waters do?
What would Quentin Tarantino do?
What would GREEN DAY do?”
