Austin Carlile and Co. have spent a day with their fan, diagnosed with terminal brain cancer
May 20, 2016
On May 27, the world will see Of Mice & Men’s first live album, Live at Brixton. But even though there’s a week to go until the scheduled date, the band gave their fan, Cassy, the privilege to hear the album prior to the official release. And not without a reason. Diagnosed with brain cancer, Cassy, aged 14, received a prognosis at the beginning of this year that she possibly had only six months left to live.
Of course, only giving Cassy the chance to hear the new album wasn’t the only thing the musicians have done for the girl: they also met Cassy in person and spent some quality time together (check out the photos below). And surprises do not stop there. OM&M recorded Cassy’s clapping along to one of their new songs and told her that it will actually land on the new record. This way a part of Cassy will be immortalized and be part of OM&M music forever. Read the band’s Instagram post about this awesome day below.
OM&M have recently been announced to play at 2016 Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards, alongside Issues, the Maine and Mayday Parade. Among other highly anticipated APMAs performers this year are Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, Papa Roach, Babymetal and Beartooth.
OM&M will have a busy summer this year. In Europe they will play Slamdunk and Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park festivals, and the rest of the summer the band will be opening for Slipknot and Marilyn Manson in America and play at a range of US festivals, including Chicago Open Air.
