Trivium won’t be making a new record in the next couple of years

November 26, 2018

The last time we heard from Trivium, frontman Matt Heafy announced he would be leaving the band’s tour this fall to be home for the birth of his twins. Now, the news comes from the band’s guitarist Corey Beaulieu (in an interview with 90.3 WMSC) that the whole band is taking “parental leave”:
“So we’re definitely excited to start on new material, but we’re not going rush anything out at the moment. Matt’s having kids, so we got parental leave from touring for a little while.”
Not only is the band taking a leave, they also won’t be rushing to record new music in the next couple of years. The band latest album, The Sin And The Sentence, was out in 2017, but it appears that until 2020 we won’t hear much new music from Trivium.

Check out the original interview below (from the 12:50 mark):

However, there still might be a single «sometime later in the year.” Here’s what Beaulieu said about their music prospects in the near future:
“We’re always are writing during downtime, so there’s always demos of riffs or songs or half a song. So we do have stuff to get started on, but we still have more touring later next year for this record. So, realistically, there probably won’t be anything until the following year. But maybe there will be a single for the record whenever – sometime later in the year.”
