On Friday an official statement was posted on Scott Weiland’s Instagram account, saying: “Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.”

Billboard reported later on Friday that Scott Weiland’s bassist, Tommy Black, has been arrested and booked for possession of cocaine. The substance was found inside Black’s area of the tour bus shared with Weiland.

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman died at age 48. According to TMZ, he was found dead on his tour bus in Minnesota at 11:01 p.m. CST on December 3.
