Music’s “power to heal, comfort and be a lifeline has never been greater”, says the band
Alternative rock veterans Simple Plan are nearing the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls, released in March 2002. But their desire to talk to people through music hasn’t lessened. The band is back with a new single ‘The Antidote’, their first music in two years.
The group, consisting on vocalist Pierre Bouvier, drummer Chuck Comeau and guitarists Sebastien Lefebvre and Jeff Stinco, says their fans will hear classic Simple Plan but with a modern twist in the new track.
“‘The Antidote’ sounds like a throwback to our classic Simple Plan sound but with a modern twist,” states their press release. “It has all the elements our fans have come to love and expect from our band: a big, energetic chorus and honest and heartfelt lyrics that deal with life and the struggles we all face.”

Even though the track was recorded before COVID-19 pandemic, its message of needing people to turn to has become even more acute since:
“We wrote and recorded the song before the pandemic hit, and in lots of ways, it has become even more relevant after everything that happened over the last 20 months,” comment the members of Simple Plan.
“A lot of people are going through some tough times right now, and the song talks about how important it is to have someone or something to turn to when life gets really hard. It can be a life partner, a friend, a family member, something you love to do and are really passionate about. It doesn’t really matter, and it can be anything.”
“For a lot of our fans and for us, it’s been music,” the musicians say. “Its power to heal, comfort and be a lifeline has never been greater and more needed than now. We really hope this song will mean a lot to our fans and help them deal with the difficult moments we’re all facing.”
