No wonder Slipknot fans are going crazy, trying to figure out what’s hiding behind the screechy teasers

Slipknot continue teasing their upcoming sixth album, and this time there’s a cryptic new audio/video, which the band has posted on Twitter. The blurry video footage might not be of much interest but the heavily distorted Corey Taylor vocals made fans scratch their heads as to what sound to expect on the upcoming record. One Reddit user, u/Raptorposse, shared a sped-up version of the audio teaser on Slipknot’s subreddit, so fans have a chance to decipher Taylor’s vocals a bit better. Check out the clearer version of the teaser:This is the last post sped up, seems to be a beauty of a scream by Corey from r/SlipknotSome listeners still tend to believe that the vocals aren’t from the upcoming album but from Slipknot’s previous songs. They point out, for example, the similarity between the new teaser and “(515),” the intro on the group’s 2001 album, Iowa. And the heavy continuation of Iowa album is what many fans hope to hear from Corey Taylor & Co. Taylor himself had previously mentioned the album contains the band’s heaviest track to this date. “The way we’ve been describing it is, ‘What if the guys who made Iowa matured? What if the kids who made Iowa grew up?’,” Taylor says of the new songs. “That’s kind of the way we’re looking at it because some of this shit is so heavy — but there’s melody, there’s really cool melancholic melody going on.” “At a time when most bands are slowing down, I think we’ve written our heaviest song—one of them anyway — on this new album,” he says. “It’s going to be f—king crazy. People are going to sh*t their pants when they hear it.” The new Slipknot album, which still doesn’t have a name, is scheduled for release on August 9. To Slipknot live news, the band has recently announced their summer Knotfest Roadshow North America tour, kicking off in late July. Slipknot will be accompanied by Volbeat, Gojira and Behemoth.
