The Northern Irish-Scottish rockers have unveiled the first piece of their seventh studio album, Wildness

March 21, 2018

Last time we heard new music from alt-rock long-livers Snow Patrol was back in 2011, when they delighted fans with Fallen Empires album, which was followed by the Greatest Hits compilation two years later. Before their gig the Tennent’s Vital festival the same year frontman Gary Lightbody joked that they “were going to do the show so that [they] haven’t gone rusty”. Have they gone rusty since their release seven years ago?

Not at all! Even though the new material had been shifted from 2015 to 2016 and then even further, now it looks like the new stuff was worth the wait. We can now get the first taste of the upcoming album in a cozy, soulful track ‘Don’t Give In’. Watch the music video for ‘Don’t Give In’ below:

The process of writing the album obviously wasn’t the easiest one. Lightbody admitted to NME that he had to overcome a sort of writer’s block and scrap all the previously written stuff with new “mind-boggling” material. Besides, in 2013 the band announced that keyboardist Tom Simpson would part ways with the band.

But Snow Patrol are back for good. Wildness, their first album in nearly seven years, is set to be released on May 25, and a month prior to the release the group are heading on a U.K. and Ireland tour (see the dates below).

April 11 – Islington Assembly Hall, London
May 11 – Millennium Forum, Derry
May 12 – Opera House, Cork
May 14 – INEC, Killarney
May 15 – Olympia, Dublin
May 16 – Opera House, Wexford
May 18 – Leisureland, Galway
May 20 – Ulster Hall, Belfast
