This “anthem for outsiders” comes with a visual-candy music video

The Rasmus have had quite a lively and productive couple of years. It’s been a wild ride: from their bright black-and-yellow Eurovision Song Contest 2022 ‘Jezebel’ performance, which secured Finland’s place in the Grand Final to bubbly ‘Live and Never Die’ single to the most recent song ‘Rest In Pieces’, released last October. Before the band set off for a massive worldwide Weirdo Tour on April 18, they dropped a hard-hitting new single ‘Creatures of Chaos’.

Released today via Better Noise Music/Playground Music, ‘Creatures of Chaos’ might be signalling a bold step up in The Rasmus’ further music direction. Giving us dark atmosphere and signature feathery gothic looks in the video, the band, in fact, seems to be tasting a new blend of alternative rock with post-grunge/heavy metal choruses. It’s as if German rock veterans Scorpions met Canadian alt-metal folks from Three Days Grace and united forces.

The Finnish top rock band describe ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ as “an anthem for outsiders, a rallying cry for anyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong.” Frontman says Lauri Ylönen says:

“‘Creatures Of Chaos’ is a global invitation to all misfits and anyone out there who’s ever felt like an outsider to join us.
The world is such a messed up place right now. I felt like going harder musically to match my feelings of being lost, scared and uncomfortable. People are so divided with their opinions that I find myself looking for hope and unity out of people like myself. It’s important to belong somewhere and take a stand with your opinions.”

The song was composed by Ylönen and pop/rock mastermind Desmond Child, along with US producer Marti “Marti” Fredriksen. If ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ reminds you of the powerful tracks on Black Roses and Rise albums, it’s not just a coincidence – those two were also the “babies” of The Rasmus and Child.
