‘Creatures Of Chaos’ by The Rasmus just got “a new dimension” with Theory of A Deadman’s vocalist as guest singer

One of the latest singles from The Rasmus, ‘Creatures of Chaos’, has just got a massive “upgrade”. We are talking about the band teaming up with Theory of A Deadman’s vocalist Tyler Connolly for a new version of the track.

The Finns released the original version of ‘Creatures of Chaos’ back in March, marking it the second single from the band’s eleventh studio album, Weirdo. Since then, the music video for the song has amassed almost a million views, and counting. With the addition of The Theory Of A Deadman’s singer, it is guaranteed to draw in new listeners to the Finnish rockers’ hit, as well as give the fans who got used to the single a new taste of the familiar melody.

“Tyler [Connolly] is an amazing singer and he added a new dimension to the song,” says frontman Lauri Ylönen. “This song is one of our best from the new album and it’s so cool that it gets some spotlight now.”

Connolly couldn’t have been more thrilled to guest sing on the single and is now dreaming of coming to Finland himself.

“I got asked to guest sing on this Rasmus song and once I heard it, I was like, ‘Heck Yeah’!”, The Theory Of A Deadman’s recollects. “Loved the track and love the band! Really enjoyed the back-and-forth verses between us, and it truly rocks! Now I got to get myself to Finland!!!”

‘Creatures of Chaos’ is dedicated to all the outsiders, all those perceived as underdogs and weirdos, hence, the album title. “I’ve always gained strength from being the underdog, and I love that. It keeps me going,” explains Ylönen. “For me, it’s more personal: I sing like I could have been a soldier, but I’m afraid of guns. I could have been this or that, but I wasn’t strong enough to be those. My job is to do this. And I’m singing to one fan in the front row, giving her or him strength to carry on. It’s another kind of hero.”

The Rasmus released their latest album, Weirdo, last month, on September 12, and treated fans to another fun collab – with The Funeral Portrait singer Lee Jennings joining them on the album title track. Most of the album material had been created on a small sunny Greek island of Folegandros and recorded under the scrupulous guidance of legendary producer/songwriter Desmond Child, the band’s companion for years.

Talking about how the album songs emerged, Ylönen says in an interview with Good Noise Podcast:

“There’s a lot of going back in time and sort of replaying things that happened in the last five years, I would say. And sometimes it’s very exhausting to go back to these memories and sort of rewind them. […] But usually I get ideas for songs when I’m really down, really broken and beaten. But then I can never write them, I can never execute them – I’m just too exhausted. Then I have to build myself up again to be strong, and happy, and energetic me, because I have, like, two sides. So then, when I’m having that moment, then it’s time to write the songs”, opens up the band’s frontman.
