“If you can’t find the video, great. Then our lawyers have done their job,” adds the band

The White Stripes might not be putting out any new music over the past few years but they simply couldn’t be quiet about Donald Trump campaign video, featuring their #1 track ‘Seven Nation Army’. The band took to Facebook yesterday to publicly announce the fact of the illegal use of the song. The duo’s post says:
”The White Stripes would like to unequivocally state that they have nothing whatsoever to do with this video. They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song.”
Interestingly, the video The White Stripes are referring to hasn’t surfaced anywhere on the internet yet… and the band hopes it never will. Jack White’s manager Ian Montone told Pitchfork: “If you can’t find the video, great. Then our lawyers have done their job.”

Trump has already been accused of unauthorized use of their songs in his campaign videos by many musicians. Take, for instance, Trump’s use of Queen’s anthem ‘We Are the Champions’ as entrance music at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this past July.

R.E.M.’s bassist Mike Mills was outraged by Trump’s unauthorized use of their music: “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign,” he commented.

Def Leppard’s guitarist Vivian Campbell said: “Def Leppard have never been a political band, and if we were, I for one wouldn’t be associating my name with this clown.”

And there’s plenty of other examples, not only concerning Trump’s campaigns. In fact, the list is so long that a late night host John Oliver has devoted an entire segment of the program to musicians’ comments on the use of their songs in politicians’ campaigns.
