The singer takes the role of a hitman named Pope in Let Me Make You a Martyr – see the new trailer

All of us associate Marilyn Manson’s name with music and “shock rock”, the cliche that journalists attached to the distinctive singer decades ago. But perhaps, the second most prominent field of work in Manson’s “record of service” is acting. And here is a new film with the rocker coming up – Let Me Make You A Martyr. Check out the trailer:

The film tells a story of an abusive father (Sons of Anarchy‘s actor Mark Boone Junior) who hires a hitman, Pope (Manson), to get rid of his adopted son and daughter (Niko Nicotera and Sam Quartin). The film also stars rapper Slaine, known for his part in Ben Affleck’s The Town.

Manson’s character, Pope, is Native American, which the rocker didn’t know when he agreed to play the role. The author of the script, Kory Grow, drew attention to the fact that Manson’s own “heritage is Sioux on his mother’s side” in August 2015′ interview and quoted the rocker saying “…her family was from the Appalachian Mountains, West Virginia…” However, since Manson’s new found “part-Indian” roots have not been verified via any other source, the information has not been regarded as fact.

Let Me Make You A Martyr will see its debut at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal this July, reports Loudwire.

Manson’s previous screen appearances have been versatile: from parts in TV comedies (Eastbound & Down, Californication) and a role in the season finale of FX’s Sons of Anarchy to big parts in films Lost Highway, Party Monster and Wrong Cops.

Musicwise, Manson and his band will hit the road again soon, for a co-headlining tour with Slipknot. And keep an eye on this year’s Alternative Press Music Awards ceremony (APMAs), where the rocker will recieve the Icon Award.
