The doctor who prescribed Prince drugs the day before he died is currently being questioned by police, reports NME. On May 5, the police filed a search warrant, stating that Dr Michael Todd Schulenberg treated Prince on April 7 and April 20 (the day before the singer’s death) and had prescribed him medication.

The names of the drugs are not known yet and there is no proof as to whether Prince took them either. The investigators interviewed Schulenberg and searched North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis, where the doctor worked. Schulenberg is a primary care physician at the clinic but no longer works there. The police also revisited Prince’s Paisley Park home on Tuesday, May 10, with the sheriff’s office Chief Deputy.
The investigators confirmed that they are looking into the possibility that the cause of Prince’s death was an overdose of prescription drugs. It was alleged that the medication that led to the singer’s death was the painkiller Percocet, found during an autopsy.
Prince left no known will and it is still to be determined who is entitled to his estate. In order to make this decision, DNA tests need to be carried out.
