At the summit with Nordic leaders Obama highlighted Finland’s contribution to the metal scene

May 18, 2016

The White House and US president, Barack Obama, recently welcomed leaders of five Nordic countries, including the president of Finland. During his speech, Obama thanked the countries for their advancements and contributions on various levels… including Finland’s extremely fruitful metal scene. Watch the fragment of his speech below.

“I do wanna point out that Finland has perhaps the most heavy metal bands in the world per capita, and also ranks high on good governance,” he said. “I don’t know if there’s any correlation there.”

The US president might be a metal fan himself, as he mentions rock artists and genres here and there. For one, a few months ago he pointed out publicly in his speech that he is not the lead singer of Korn (in case someone keeps confusing the two). Korn fans enjoyed this “news” so much that they even launched a video of Obama “singing” the lyrics of ‘Freak On A Leash’ – if you missed it, watch the fan-made video at this location.
