TONIGHT ALIVE return with emotional new song and quirky video ‘Crack My Heart’

The new track is aimed at “decalcification of the hardened heart,” Jenna McDougall explains

It’s good to see Tonight Alive back on. It’s even better to see them surpass themselves in the degree of emotionality and quirkiness in the new song and music video, ‘Crack My Heart’. Check it out below.

In the video, we see two diametrically opposite images of singer Jenna McDougall, and the one in the cage is, honestly, frightening in how “in the moment” she is. Jenna does not only deliver the song like there’s no tomorrow, there’s also something otherworldly in the way she moves in the confined space.
“The concept of cracking the heart is to allow the precious, vulnerable self to come through and be free,” the vocalist explains. “The painful, yet liberating experience involves the emotional and energetic decalcification of the hardened heart.”
And just when you thought there’s no extra layer to this deep interpretation, McDougall adds that the lyrics describe how “the divine masculine elevates and holds space for the divine feminine” (via Alternative Press). How often do you hear songs as philosophical as this one?
“The lyrics follow my conversation with a ‘winged man’, a conscious figure, who offers space and safety to do my healing with. In my experience, when you are seen as your authentic self by another, you come to recognise your reflection more accurately and lovingly. ‘Crack My Heart’ is a tribute to the way that love from the divine masculine elevates and holds space for the divine feminine to flourish,” the singer ponders.
The whole new album, Underworld, promises to be stuffed with surprises: we’ll hear guest vocals from Lynn Gunn (PVRIS) on the track ‘Disappear’ and Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) on ‘My Underworld’.

And, of course, where there’s a new album, there’s a new massive tour coming up. Tonight Alive will hit the road for a co-headlining tour with Silverstein, which will cover both North American and European cities. Check out all the announced 2018 tour dates below!
