The new album is described as stepping “into the sunlight to mingle, discuss and celebrate”
Finland’s renowned rock musicians Von Hertzen Brothers have announced the details of their upcoming self-produced ninth album, In Murmuration, scheduled for release October 25. The new album will be released on the band’s own label, DoingBeingMusic.
In Murmuration is picking up the baton from their previous record, sorrowful and comforting 2022′ Red Alert in the Blue Forest. But unlike on the previous work, the mood on the upcoming album has shifted in more optimistic and renewal-inspiring direction. While we still get to enjoy the kaleidoscope of music genres and rock influences, signature of Von Hertzen Brothers, the creative brothers promise In Murmuration to be filled with anthemic stadium-like tracks, 90s art-rock-spiced melodies and power-pop.

There is surely room for ballads, too, but this time the Finnish masterminds want to remind us of their ability “to write good pop choruses and great catchy rock anthems with good vibes. We felt like it was now time to bring forth that side of us once again,” comments frontman Mikko von Hertzen.
“The shapes and the overall tone of the musical content on this album could be a bit surprising to some of our newer followers, but not to those who have been listening to us from the beginning,” adds Mikko.
Lyrically, on the new album Mikko, Kie and Jonne offer a wide range of subjects for contemplation with “a naturally occurring sense of constant change throughout.“
One thing that singles out In Murmuration sonically is the fact that apart from the harmonies of the brothers and their already established drummer Sami Kuoppamäki, the album sound is also enriched by multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala. Markus had played with the brothers on their acoustic tour in 2023 and recorded the saxophone part for their track ‘Peace Patrol’. And last but not least, to make it even more anthemic and massive, we’ll get to hear the gospel ensemble and the Budapest Art Orchestra on the upcoming release.
