They got a bit older. They have a bigger band on stage. But they give it their all, like they always did. MCR are back!
It was on Halloween that My Chemical Romance shook the world with the announcement of their official return to the stage for the first time in seven years. This past Friday, December 20, Gerard Way & Co. played their reunion show in Los Angeles, and it was a blast!
The fans of My Chemical Romance got what they came for and much more. The band played a lot of MCR’s major singles, as well as other voted fans’ favorites, and as AltPress put it, “perfectly catered to both old fans and new ones”. On top on 17 main setlist songs, the band played encore twice, rounding off with the iconic ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’. You can see the highly emotional encore #2 below:

As the band’s unprecedented success came with their album The Black Parase, the musicians treated the crowd with 7 of 14 songs from the record. These included ‘Mama’, ‘Sleep’, ‘Teenagers’, ‘House of Wolves’ and ‘Famous Last Words’.
Obvisouly, the members of My Chemical Romance are now taking to social media to thank their fans for making it a grandiose night. Frank also thanked his family and posted a pic with his children, their faces covered with Baby Yoda. He wrote:
“Thank you to our unbelievable crew(family) for making everything possible and appear effortless when it was everything but that. And thank you to gerard, mikey, ray, jarrod and jamie… I have never been more proud of my brothers, and proud of this amazing thing we created. It was an honor to share a stage once again. What a wild ride… “
The army of emo and alt-rock fans suspected the comeback was coming when at 2 p.m. ET on October 31 the band’s Facebook page changed their profile picture to a black candle. It was just a few hours later that MCR confirmed they were back and announced their first show together.
