Watch WITHIN TEMPTATION search for redemption in new music video ‘The Purge’
Within Temptation have just launched a cinematic new video for their latest hard-hitting single ‘The Purge’. The song came out last month, but it’s only now that fans get to savour its official video. Be sure to watch it below.
Just like the lyrics go, in the video vocalist Sharon Den Adel is making her journey through her past mistakes. The road to full redemption is thorny, but she doesn’t hesitate, despite the pain and scars it involves. Sharon bravely walks through all the dark passages, getting in touch with various Earth’s elements to find the metaphorical exit.
“‘The Purge’ revolves around self-reflection and a search for redemption,” explains Den Adel. “No one gets through life without scars or without inflicting them on others and there will always be moments in your life when you start questioning your choices. You start realizing you’ve made mistakes, causing harm to not only others but also to yourself. To confess, to acknowledge, and to accept these mistakes can be a very painful process. However, it’s unescapable when the burden becomes too heavy.”

Within Temptation’s last album Resist came out more than a year, and a new one isn’t coming yet, but in 2020 they’ve already delighted fans with «a few extra songs to play at the tour we were supposed to be doing», including a surprise track, ‘Entertain You’. The musicians say they «decided to release it now because we felt like it’s maybe a good time. Everybody is at home and we need something new to look forward to.”
Not to forget Sharon Den Adel’s August collab with Evanescence, the Pretty Reckless‘ Taylor Momsen, Lzzy Hale and more for the track and video ‘Use My Voice‘. The single is featured on Evanescence’s new album The Bitter Truth.

You know that this year Within Temptation were to join Evanescence on their 2020 Worlds Collide tour, which had to be postponed to 2021. But the band isn’t wasting time — they are ensuring you will get a larger-scale show next year:
“We’re going to make a new stage set especially for this tour, because the venues are a bit bigger,” Den Adel recently told Kerrang!. “Most of the time what we brought was too big for the venues we played. But there are people who came to see us already on the Resist tour, so we want to make something special for those people as well.»
