  • The non-binary singer’s real name is Cuntry Ray Robinson. They go under the stage name Bambie Thug.
  • Bambie was born and raised in Macroom, County Cork, on 6 March 1993, to an Irish mother and a Swedish father (by coincidence, they are headed to Sweden for Eurovision).

  • Bambie Thug won Eurosong 2024 in Ireland and will represent her country in Eurovision 2024 with the song ‘Doomsday Blue’.
  • The singer moved to London to study ballet in Urdang Academy. However, Bambie’s dance path spelt the end after they broke their arm in college. Bambie switched to musical theatre instead.
  • Bambie left a talent agency, as according to the singer, they wanted to turn them into bubblegum pop.

  • Bambie’s debut song, titled ‘Birthday’, was released 2021. The song was, reportedly, written while the singer was addicted to drugs. Its uncensored music video also dropped on pornography sites.

  • Bambie characterizes her style as ouija-pop and says “it’s a fusion of everything”. The singer describes themselves as “nightcore Barbie”.

  • Apart from writing for themselves, Bambie has written music for many artists, including Cassyette, KID BRUNSWICK, and FabiCH. Bambie’s instrumental can be heard on HBO’s Sex And The City reboot Just Like That.

  • Following their victory in Eurosong, 2,000 people signed a petition to disqualify Bambie calling her performance “a mockery of national culture”. Bambie responded to the criticism with a harsh press statement:

“If you don’t want to be part of the Haus Of Thug you are not obligated to come on this journey with me… don’t waste your life hung up [on] hate… [and] don’t be mad because I haven’t forgotten the art of play, fun and creation and you have”.

  • Irish singer Johnny Logan, who had won Eurovision for Ireland twice, told Sunday World he believes ‘Doomsday Blue’ “could win the Eurovision”.
