Davey Havok says the video represents a “cyclical struggle with the surreal colors”
January 5, 2017
After a classical performance video for ‘White Offerings’, AFI decided to go a little crazy with the following one, ‘Snow Cats’ (watch below). Just like its predecessor, ‘Snow Cats’ are featured on the band’s upcoming release AFI (The Blood Album), which is less than two weeks ahead.
In fact, it looks like both videos had been shot on the same day, as the new video takes off where the previous one ended. The first scene sees four guys dressed up in white in the same white room. However, from their it gets a bit nuts or “surreal” if you want: space-themed backgrounds, multiplied faces and figures of Davey Havok and co – all of it expanding without end.
Talking about the idea behind the ‘Snow Cats’ video, Havok told Pitchfork:“Expanding endlessly from an empty room, the ‘Snow Cats’ video animates a cyclical struggle with the surreal colors of applied persona and identity.” Although this explanation might seem even more puzzling, watching the clip isn’t a struggle at all.
