The world has heaved a sigh of relief. After a recent rumor that Dave Grohl was about to leave the band to pursue a solo career, which emerged after his solo performance at the Oscars on Feb 28, Foo Fighters decided not to stay indifferent to the whole buzz and addressed the rumors creatively and with humor. They recorded a seven-minute parody video, which puts an end to the Chinese whispers spread by music media and Foo fans.

In the ‘Breakup’ video Foo Fighters announce that Nick Lachey is the band’s new singer. Dave Grohl announces exiting the band and going solo. What is more, he decides he’s had enough of playing the guitar and dives into the world of electronic music. He takes advantage of his fame and it’s not long before he enters the studio to record his new and not so sophisticated material. Foo Fighters start looking for a new singer: will it be Justin Bieber, Scott Stapp or Prince? In the end, Nick Lachey comes for an audition and sings ‘Everlong’ with the band. Check out the parody ‘Breakup’ video below.

Foo Fighters had been screwing with us about their going on a break, and in quite an alarming way: yesterday all rock media noised abroad when Foo’s drummer Taylor Hawkins said in an interview that the group was really going on a hiatus. Now it’s clear that it was also a part of their big joke in response to the circulating rumors.
