It’s not a joke: Finnish love metal idols, HIM, have announced their breakup…
As much as we wish it wasn’t true, unfortunately, it’s official: HIM have announced today that they are breaking up after being together for 26 years. The Finnish love metal pioneers decided to make this sad announcement via Facebook. They have posted a lengthy statement, which reads:
As you’ve noticed, HIM haven’t been active as a band over the past few years, apart from a couple of one-off shows and festivals here and there. So, in spite of the fans’ shock, it seems to be the consequence of the natural flow of the events for the band.

“Following a long radio silence, Finnish rock giants HIM have announced a farewell tour, closing the final chapter on their 26 year career,” reads the statement.
A farewell world tour will wrap up the band’s 26-year-long career. So far, the revealed dates cover a few European countries, Russia and the UK. But HIM inform that the US leg will soon follow as well.
HIM stay true to their love-metal path even in their breakup stage: tickets for the final tour dates will go on sale on March 8, celebrated in Eastern Europe as the International Women’s Day. Ticket sale will launch at 9 a.m. local time.
