The massive tour will kick off this May and bring Hanson to the stages of the US, Canada, UK, Germany and more
March 14, 2017
Remember those three teen brothers, Hanson, and the catchy 1997′ tune ‘MMMBop’? The fun pop-rock trio is celebrating the song’s 20th birthday this year, as well as the band’s 25th anniversary! It’s hard to believe but Hanson have been around for over than two decades, and they’re bringing all their career-spanning hits to the stage.
Hanson have announced that they will embark on the world tour to celebrate these important milestones. The boy band, comprised of brothers Zac (who is now 31), Taylor (34) and Isaac Hanson (36), will hit the road for The Middle of Everywhere tour this May. Check out the full list of tour dates below.
“Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what better way to do it than with an anniversary tour,” says Taylor’s official statement.
The eldest of the brothers, Isaac, underlines it’s not only the celebration of Hanson’s successful career but of their dedicated fan community:
“This year is not only about the two decades of music, it’s about celebrating the incredible community of fans who have been with us, singing along year after year.”
The massive trek will kick off at the The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the band’s hometown. Tulsa even celebrates a ‘Hanson Day’ on May 6, declared by the state’s then-governor Frank Keating. The first part of the tour is a few shows in Europe, starting with Cologne, Germany on June 1, before Hanson head to the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Belgium.
As for the 20-year-old hit ‘MMMBop’, the Hanson brothers have revealed they still hope to hear a decent cover for the hit. One Direction and The Vamps have already recorded their versions of the song, but the trio told Vulture that they weren’t that impressed. Isaac explains that it’s the tough chorus which presents the challenge:
“You know why? People can’t sing the chorus right. Most of the time they syncopate it wrong,” the musician says. “If Bruno Mars were interested, he’d probably find a way to kill it,” he adds jokingly.
In addition, Hanson will be releasing a greatest hits album called and a new Christmas album, titled Ooh Christmas, later this year.
